Statement: To enhance and improve professional development;
to advocate leadership in support of research, policy and practice to improve
reading instruction for all learners; to establish partnerships with a wide range
of organizations; to encourage and support research in reading and language arts
education in order to promote informed decion-making; and to identify, focus and
provide leadership on significant literacy issues.
