Lesson Plan on Multiple Intelligences

This lesson plan is designed to be used by seventh graders at the start of the school year to help them better understand themselves as learners from the perspective of Howard Gardner's Nine Multiple Intelligences. (A ninth, existential, has recently been added, but is not included in online assessment instruments at this time.) This lesson is flexible; materials can be printed and distributed in a classroom where there is limited access to computers, or all activities can completed on multiple computers with access to the Internet. The plan should take no more than three class periods to implement and can become a springboard for lessons and discussions promoting self-regulation and metacognition in each learner throughout the school year.
The NJ Core Curriculum Standards targeted by this lesson plan are aligned with their correlating objectives. The content areas addressed are the newly adopted NJ Technology standards, mathematics standard A-1, and workplace-readiness standards.
